Now you can add Flickr Pictures
I just added a feature to the District (and club) web sites so that a Flickr picture or Set can be added. Here is an example of a Flickr photo set:
RC Southam 2000 - 23 June
This was inserted using a tag like this:
[ flickr-photoset:id=72157626910306249,size=s] (without the space after the first square bracket)
The id number in the middle is taken from the URL when showing the full Flickr set.
Equality & Diversity, including equal opportunies
Dear All,
I have recently been asked by the DG Elect, Steve Cartwight to be the liaision for all the club as the District Equlity & Diversity Officer. As this fits in rather well with my current post as District Protection Officer I have said that I will do this.
Retaining Data
As the new Rotary Year is well underway I am reminded of our duties under the Data Protection Act. More specifically, our duties in relation to Principle 5. This is the principle that data should only be retained for as long as it is required. According to the Information Commissioner, we should:
District 1060 Golf Society
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I am writing to you as Captain of our Rotary District 1060 Golf Society, I say our Society as every Rotarian in this district is automatically a member. The Society celebrated its 50 year anniversary last year and I for one would like it to continue for many more years to come, the only way that this will happen is if we get the support from more of the clubs.

Rotary Tomato Sauce
Due to the confusion surrounding the donations raised from the tomato sauce, VP Ray Burman has released the following statement:
“The Rotary year 2011/12 will be the final year when we are asked to meet Rotary’s US$200 Million Challenge, which we aim to complete by 30 June 2012.
The Rotary Tomato Sauce (End Polio Now) initiative was conceived as a way for Rotarians and clubs to raise funds to help meet the challenge.
RIBI Breakfast in New Orleans
Hi Everyone,
I have been getting a lot of enquires regarding the RIBI Breakfast following the news reports concerning the flooding along the Mississippi River. As of late Friday there were no restrictions on river traffic and at that time it was all systems go.
Tornadoes in the USA - a personal appeal.
When I took the 1060 GSE Team to Alabama in 1966 one of the main centres for our visit was in Tuscaloosa, sponsored by the two Rotary Clubs there. They were very generous both in terms of time and hospitality, we had much contact with the University of Alabama situated there and the medical team went out of their way to see if there was any way of helping restore the sight of the blind member of our team....Paul. We were extremely well accommodated and in reality welcomed with open arms.
RIBI Assembly
The RIBI Assembly was held last weekend. Those District Officers attending mostly enjoyed a time of receiving information and exchanging ideas with their counter parts in RIBI.
The Plenary sessions were addressed by good speakers with interesting topics.
On Sunday morning the 1060 Delegates were able to join together to share their group experiences.
The Assembly closed with a very inspirational address by our RI President Elect, Kalyan Banerjee.
A VISIT TO THE GAMBIA
My visit to the Gambia from 22nd -29th March enabled me to see first hand the good work that David Swettenham and Helen King and their JOLE RIDER charity have been doing in the Gambia during the last five years.
Their commitment to education in many forms is transforming the lives of many teenage children by giving them access to education by way of providing books and furnishings to build libraries, and bikes to allow the children to get to school, often over distances of 5 to 7 miles.
