The Rotary Club of North Worcestershire organizes each year a charity golf day at Blackwell Golf Club. This year they succeeded in raising over £8,000 for various charitable causes. The club’s two principal charities this year are Prostate Cancer Awareness and Worcestershire Special Olympics , the latter being a locally based group of parents, relatives and volunteers providing year round sports training and competitions for children and young adults with learning difficulties. During the course of the next 12 months, the club plans making donations to a number of other local charities.

Dave Foster, club President presented prizes to Jonathan Thompson and Alistair Booth, the team with the highest Stableford score on the day. 60 golfers participated in the event and a large number of local companies helped sponsor the day, many also having donated prizes for a raffle and auction held at a dinner following the competition. Sajid Javid, Member of Parliament for Bromsgrove, attended the drinks prior to the dinner and met with a number of the players and the sponsors.

Sajid Javid commented “I was delighted to meet with some of the players and sponsors on the day. I was impressed by the Club’s plans to raise funds for charitable causes, including a number of our local charities in Bromsgrove. This was an excellent example of Rotary’s well known work to help both surrounding communities and international disasters.”
