District 1060 International Disaster Relief Collection Day

Date and Time:
Saturday, March 8, 2014 - 09:00 - 17:00
This event is an opportunity for clubs in District 1060 to hold a fund raising event ( on the same day as other clubs in the district) to support Disaster Relief organisations or projects of the club's choice - eg Shelterbox, Aquabox, DEC, etc.
At various venues around the District to be arranged by each club

  • All clubs in District 1060 are invited to participate either by organising their own event in the club's locality, or with other clubs in a joint fund raiser.
  • Ideally if each club could organise a bucket collection in their area this would create a district wide PR opportunity for clubs to contribute to and benefit from.
  • This event has been created in response to requests from Rotarians in the District for a District wide collection day to raise funds to help with the Syrian Refugee Relief operation.
  • It is a matter for each club to decide which relief organisation they choose to benefit from their fund raising event - it doesn't have to necessarily be related to the Syrian crisis as by March 2014 there could be other disasters which the club would prefer to support.
  • The RIBI policy on disaster relief is to support external organisations who are geared up to carry out this work. Generally the box schemes are those most able to get into the areas, assess the needs and provide facilities for shelter, fresh water etc.
