Secretaries Newsletter for April 2012

By Webmaster - Posted on 01 May 2012

Apologies for not being present at the Assembly but I am afraid my elderly father had a bad fall the day before and I had to be with him. Sincere thanks however to Assistant Secretary John Parkinson for standing in.

John has given me feedback on the session which I hope those who attended found useful.

You will note that I have taken the colour out of the title block above which was requested to save ink for those who printed this document.

I understand that there was a query concerning the date of the Club AGM relative to the District Assembly. By-Law 7 of the Standard RIBI Club Constitution says that the Club AGM must come first.

In order that you can plan next year’s programme to accommodate this requirement please note that the District Assembly in 2013 is scheduled for the 27th April

The Power Point slides that John used at Assembly are now available on the web site.

Because of the restrictions of the Data protection legislation it is not possible to include partners’ names in the District Directory apart from Presidents & Secretaries where specific permission has been requested by email to each individual.

In response to a request at the breakout session Club Charter dates will be included in the District directory for 2012/13.

In my February Newsletter I asked if you could let me have details of any twinning arrangements that your club may have with another club overseas. I have received replies from Birmingham, Droitwich Spa, Redditch, Royal Leamington Spa and Stourbridge. Are there any more? Please let me know even if they are not too formal.

Don’t forget the District Handover to be held on 27th June in the evening. A separate notice has been circulated.

Also whilst on the subject of District events booking is now well and truly open for the Conference at the end of October. The necessary booking forms are on the District web site and the HQ Hotel, Mercure Holland House, where all the Conference activities will take place has significantly reduced its prices. Again this information has been sent out by a separate notice.

You should have received, direct from RIBI the April version of their Service News which has a lot of interesting information across the range of Service Committees. As this document is sent to all 30,000+ members, with e mail addresses, on their data base I am no longer going to forward it separately. If you have not received your copy then let me know.

Please note that Edgbaston Convention Club are moving venue from and including 21st May to the Plough & Harrow Hotel, 135 Hagley Road, Birmingham, B16 8LS meeting at 7.00 for 7.30 Membership Changes: Please continue to let me have any changes in Membership numbers, gains or losses, so that the statistical information can be kept up to date. Information is welcome by e mail, letter or via the web site link.
