Secretaries Newsletter for January 2012

By Webmaster - Posted on 16 January 2012

I will shortly be sending out nomination forms, to you, for Rotarians who wish to serve on District Committees for 2012/13. Please ensure that your Club members are aware of this opportunity to contribute to District activities. Existing Committee members who wish to continue must complete a new nomination form.

The next District Council Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 14th March at the Arden School, Knowle at the usual time of 6.30 for 7.00. This is the meeting when the budget will be agreed for 2012/13. The budget documents will be circulated to your Treasurer in advance of the meeting by Dick Sharrott, District Treasurer.

Enclosed with this newsletter are details of how to apply to create a Beacon for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations later this year. Contact details are on the bottom of the form. If any Club applies and is successful please let the District Governor or myself know the details.

Please note and inform your members that the District Handover has been moved from the scheduled date of 24th June to Wednesday evening 27th June and will take place at the Park Inn, West Bromwich, close to junction 1 of the M5. Full details will be available in the near future.

Hopefully most of you will have seen reference to the proposed reorganisation of RIBI and read the information, or at least some of it, available on the RIIBI web site. Just in case you have not looked at it yet you can access the information by logging on to the RIBI web site, put “Reorganisation of RIBI” into the “Search” box, then click on the second option which will reveal a list of the key documents on the right hand side of the page.

There is a link on the page to send your comments direct to RIBI which, in view of the timescale might be a good idea. There will be an opportunity to discuss the proposed changes at the next District Council meeting in March (details opposite) albeit that is very close to the RIBI Conference in the middle of April.

Don’t forget to update the RI data base with details of your Officers for 2012/13. John Parkinson, Asst. District Secretary, will offer help if needed.

You should have received the results of the information supplied to the membership Team which I sent out earlier today. Please continue to let me have any changes in Membership numbers, gains or losses, so that the statistical information can be kept up to date. Information is welcome by e mail, letter or via the web site link.
