Secretaries Newsletter for July 2011

By Roger Coopey - Posted on 01 July 2011

Dear Club Secretary,

This is the first of what, I hope, will be a short regular newsletter to keep you informed of key dates, activities and meetings principally in the District but covering other Rotary events where considered appropriate. Don’t forget that if your Club has an activity to publicise the District Governor will be pleased to include details in his monthly newsletter.

First District Council Meeting of the new Rotary year will be held on Wednesday 21st September at Arden School, Knowle. Tea and biscuits will be available from 18.30 for a 19.00 start. Agendas will be sent out mid way through August.

District elections - There will be Elections at the District Council for the following vacancies:

  • District Governor Nominee
  • Assistant Governors   (2)
  • Trustee

Nomination forms, for all vacancies, will be circulated to Secretaries within the next two weeks. Nominations, which must be signed by the Club President and Secretary, to be returned to me by 15th August.   Ballot papers will be sent out once nominations have been received.

1060 news - It would be extremely helpful if at least one member from each Club is signed up to 1060 news.  A sign up page is available on the District web site via “For Members & Clubs” then “New web site” and then “ Internet resources”. Contact Dave Roberts, District PR, Communications and Marketing Chairman with any queries.

New Members Notification form and Leaving Members Notification form

Log in, then on menu on LHS of screen click on “For Members and Clubs”, followed by “ For Club Officers”, then “Secretary” , then “Report Membership Changes”  which reveals the on line format. The same forms can be used for transferees either in or out.

So you can now submit information by post, e mail or directly off the web site

District Conference, LLandudno 28th – 30th October  There is still time to book for the Conference before the registration price increases on 1st August. All the details are on the Conference page of the District web site including the registration forms.

2013 Council on Legislation (COL) – if any Club wishes to put forward a resolution or proposed enactment for the next COL then details should be sent to PDG Peter Smith by 13th August 2011 in order to be considered at District Council on 17/9/11.
