Equality & Diversity Policy (E & D) - DG Steve stressed the importance, at Council, of Clubs discussing the E & D Policy, circulated to all Club Presidents initially by RIBI and then by the DG, and then the President signing it. However it is not just a paper exercise and Clubs should ensure that they follow the advice contained within the Policy document. The acceptance of the Policy should be recorded in the Council minutes and the signed document should be kept with Council records. The exercise must be repeated each year. Failure to comply could invalidate your Club’s Insurance cover.

Polio Eradication – PDG Peter Smith gave an interesting update on the progress of beating this disease and stressed the difficult hurdles that still lie ahead. The 24th October is World Polio day whilst 23rd February 2013, Founders Day, will be an opportunity to continue the End Polio Now campaign. Latest information can be found on www.polioeradication.org

Nominations for District Office – in the next few days I will be sending out to all Club Secretaries nomination forms for a number of District Offices including the position of DGN 2013/14 (DG 2015/16). Please circulate the schedule of vacancies to your colleagues and encourage them to consider submitting an application if they are interested in taking office. If there is competition for any office ballot papers will be issued and the results declared at the November Council meeting.

Next District Council – is scheduled for Wednesday 28th November at 18.30 for 19.00 at the usual venue of the Arden Academy, Knowle.
