Winner from the Intermediate Competition

I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who helped.

Following a great event, I am proud to announce that King Edward VI Handsworth won the Senior District Competition and Woodrush High School won the Intermediate Competition. This year the standard was extremely high and made the job of the judges rather tough as the teams battled each other for the top position.

As with all successful events they could not happen without the support and help of the many volunteers. A big thank you to our Judges who did a sterling job in both competitions, and the volunteers from the various clubs and district committees that took on the numerous tasks and duties needed to make this event a success. From the District Governor, Bryan, and Youth Services Chairperson, Marion, who were there to present the awards, right through to my family who served all the guests tea and coffee during the event, a big thank you. I cannot forget the Schools, Teachers and Parents too, who made sure the teams were ready, and able, to attend the Club Competitions and then making sure all teams got to the District Competition, this year, at the fantastic facilities of Bablake School, Coventry.

This is my last Youth Speaks competition as coordinator and I wish my successor May Shaker all the best with next year’s competition, I am confident she will build and improve on the success we have had over the past years.
