The Rotary Club of Redditch Kingfisher is inviting young people to take part in a photography competition launched by RIBI to explore the artistic talents of junior and secondary school pupils.

The competition is designed to encourage students to experiment with photography, using digital methods to show interpretation of given subject matter and to express their ideas through the medium of photography.

There are three categories: the junior section for youngster aged 7-10, the intermediate section for youngsters aged 11-13 and the senior section for those aged 14-17.

The winner of the club competition will go forward to the District competition and the winner of that competition to the RIBI final. The RIBI winner will be announced in May. Entries for the club competition must be submitted by 9 March2014.

Competitors are required to produce a portfolio of three photographs based upon the theme, ‘Light up the Community’ in colour or black and white on photographic paper. Prints to be submitted separately. Each print, including any mount should be no larger than A4 size. They must also submit a description of the inspiration for their photographs in less than 50 words.

Copies of the rules and application form can be viewed on the District website www.1060.org.uk or the Redditch Kingfisher website, www.1060.org.uk/redditch-kingfisher  where the application form can be found.

You can also register your interest at the Clubs open evening to be held on the 30 September, from 7.30 onwards, at the local Sainsbury store in Redditch, where members of the public are invited to come along and find out more about what Rotary has to offer.
