District Conference 2012
Rotary District 1060 Conference will be held in Cardiff 26th to 28th October 2012. All Plenary and Social events will be held at the Headquarters Hotel, Holland House Hotel, which is situated close to the pedestrianised shopping precinct. Delegates are invited to consider looking at the Holland House Hotel as their first choice as it will not involve any walking or transport to and from the conference venue.
Members can download registration forms if they log on.
NEW 1060 COMMUNITY AWARD FOR 2012/13
£5,000 for a very worthwhile cause
This is a NEW AWARD with funding up to £5000...any Rotary Club in 1060 can enter.
The rules are simple :-

It is for the best local community project in Rotary District 1060 that needs financial assistance to make it happen
-
It may all be given to one Club, or spread among Clubs thought to have an equally good workable idea, to a maximimum of 5 Clubs.

Your project may be one that needs additional funding or be a brand new idea to be developed
District Handover
The District Handover will take place on Wednesday 27th June 2012 at Park Inn by Raddisson Birmingham West, Europa Avenue, M5Jct1, West Bromwich, B76 6TU, 1900 for 1930 hours start.
These occasions are always full of Fellowship and Friendship thus Clubs are invited to seek attendance from their members and partners to make the event a memorable occasion for the outgoing Governor, Brian Kimberley, and the incoming Governor, Steve Cartwright.
The format for the evening will be:
AN EVENING OF INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING
COST £15 for Two course meal with choice of English or Thai menu.
- Barbecued chicken breast in garlic and coriander marinade served with coconut rice and sweet chilli stirfry
- Selection of mini Thai desserts
- Lime roasted supreme of salmon served with thyme roasted potatoes finished with a warm hollandaise sauce
- Apple and rhubarb crumble with vanilla pod custard

District Governor's Newsletter for April 2012
March has seen the culmination of the Youth Competitions programme. The organisers are to be congratulated in giving those taking part an opportunity of a life time to demonstrate their skills and personalities to a wider audience. We can be proud that if it was not for Rotary this particular opportunity would not have been possible. My thanks to Clubs and organisers for supporting this part of our service in the Community.
Rotary and Polio – The End Game
Peter Balfe has extensive knowledge about Polio and is an expert in viral infections, so come along and find out more about Polio as we, hopefully, enter the final stages of its eradication. Some ten days ago we received the following message from Rotarian Francis Dykmans of the Rotary Club of Puntilla, Guayaquil, Ecuador:
New Rates for District Conference HQ Hotel
I am pleased to be able to tell you that the HQ Hotel for the District Conference in Cardiff have agreed to reduce their rates for our event and I give below these new prices. They are substantially lower than those previously notified. I would most grateful, please, if you could pass on these new rates in your next monthly News Letter and encourage Rotarians to taken advantage of these reductions and to book at the HQ hotel.
