Image 4.jpg

Competition was at its fiercest on Wednesday 22nd August in Dorridge, when three Rotary clubs in Solihull fought to see who might win or retain the much coveted putting trophy. In the end, Solihull Rotary Club triumphed yet again this year, closely followed, it has to be said, by St Alphege, and Knowle & Dorridge Clubs. The four members of the proud winning Solihull team are shown in the photograph - Dyson Richards, Don Finch, Ian Courts and Brian Talbot.

We are involved in a project that is called Free@last in Nechells to turn a garage into a youth centre which needs to open by September. Most of the safety work has been completed along with new toilets and kitchen area. But the walls are bare brick. Rotary has funded the refurbishment so far. The project is coming along except the inside of the building has to be painted (see picture). We only have a matter of weeks to complete and can not afford the labour costs to get the job done. So if you can spare a few hours or have any contacts in the decorating field that may spare a man or two it would be very much appreciated.

The venue is open from 9 to 5 each day.

Voluntary Helpers

Many of our prospective members wish to help their community but don't want to go as far as joining Rotary.  They just want to volunteer for events.  This project enables a District register of volunteer opportunities.

Clubs are encouraged to add their own opportunities.  Each entry will automatically have a sign-up form attached.  For more details contact the webmaster.

Planning on Lisbon?
