A number of You may have heard Jane at the D1060 Conference in Cardiff last October.  Jane has spoken to a  number of District Conferences & was a guest speaker at the RIBI 2014 Conference. 

Jane is the founder of PCF, a British charity that provides education, food, health care & skills training to families living in abject poverty on dump sites in & around the poorest slums of Manila.

District 1060 Rotary Foundation Seminar 2016

The Rotary Foundation is our own charity and makes an amazing difference both in the UK and worldwide. In order to receive a grant from The Rotary Foundation, all primary sponsor clubs involved must be qualified by their District. This event is the best opportunity to receive the grant management training to satisfy the terms of The Rotary Foundation for participating in Grant Projects. Find out how you and your club can engage with your charity, and allow a gift to be sent to those in need at home or abroad. This event also provides a great opportunity to see how Rotary Foundation funds are put to good use by listening to a Rotary Peace Fellow from The University of Bradford. Fresh Water for Kititi in Uganda

Vice President inaugurates water bore hole

The village of Kititi in south-east Uganda now has clean water for the first time, thanks to funding provided to Planting for Hope Uganda by Kinver and Bewdley Rotary Clubs, supported by a matching grant from Rotary District 1060. Until now the villagers have had a long walk to fetch and carry filthy unhygienic water back to the village.

District under 12’s 5–a–Side Football Tournament

We are eager to build on the success of the last 3 years of this 5-a-side football tournament instigated by District 1220 (Derbyshire), with the finals held at the on Sunday 5 June 2016, it is hoped that this will develop into an annual ‘RIBI u12 Youth Football Competition’, with teams entering and representing each individual rotary district within RIBI.

In order to select a team to represent D1060 at such an event, we will be seeking teams to enter into a qualifying tournament to be held in April 2016 (TBC).

Rota Kids in Rugby

The Rotary Club of Rugby Saturday Breakfast recently celebrated the charter of the first Rota Kids Club at Eastlands Primary School  Rugby.

Following on from collecting their Young Citizen award in Birmingham,  for writing, recording, acting and filming their own DVD on Cyber Bullying the School now holds fortnightly Rota Kids meetings.

Rotarians from the club and District Governor Elect, Peter Roberts, attended the school assembly to present the children with their certificates.

Rotary success at Morton Stanley Festival

Despite the inclement weather, which kept people away on the Sunday afternoon, our stalls at Morton Stanley Festival raised over £800 for our local charity, St. Basil's. Morton Stanley  is a free community festival which attracts many thousands of visitors of all ages and backgrounds, and this year's event provided a great oppportunity to raise the profile of Rotary in the town.

Rotary Scholars Link Weekend

Friday 18 – Sunday 20 September 2015

In the coming academic year we are expecting around 30 to 40 Rotary Scholars sponsored by Rotary Clubs from England and overseas in conjunction with The Rotary Foundation who will be studying at Universities in the UK. They come from various backgrounds and from all over the world and are usually between the ages of 21 and 30 years.
