Rotary Scholars Link Weekend

By Steve McConnell - Posted on 30 July 2015

Friday 18 – Sunday 20 September 2015

In the coming academic year we are expecting around 30 to 40 Rotary Scholars sponsored by Rotary Clubs from England and overseas in conjunction with The Rotary Foundation who will be studying at Universities in the UK. They come from various backgrounds and from all over the world and are usually between the ages of 21 and 30 years.

It has been customary for Rotarians to welcome them here and for them to get to know each other at a Link Weekend at the beginning of their studies. The Link Weekend is a joint venture between District 1060 and District 1210 (Immediately North-West to our District)

FAQ’s

How can I help?

We are looking for Rotarians and their families to host a Scholar (or two if possible!) for the weekend.

What do I have to do?

Offer a welcoming Rotarian hand of friendship and provide accommodation on Friday and Saturday night, dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.

Do I have to sort out any activities?

No, there will be a full program of activities.

Will it cost me anything?

Yes, your time and a contribution for costs of any activities that you would like to join in with.

Why is this event so important?

It gives every Rotarian in our area the unique opportunity to meet with and get to know a Scholar from another part of the world sponsored by Rotary. This is Rotary in action and your gift to a Scholar who is eager to discover the unmatchable friendship that Rotary can give.
