International

We are keen to promote the work that many of you are involved in in District 1060 as well as keep you informed of the work done in RIBI and RI international. Please ask if you have any queries and we will do our best to help you. Our policy is to try and provide as much information through newsletters and links to websites as we can to help clubs find international projects. And to help clubs with projects to find clubs to support them. We will also support RIBI initiatives in responding to disasters - normally clubs should donate to the box projects or support any national appeals through DEC which are advertised.

Reach beyond your community and connect with others who share common interests. Make a positive impact on people’s lives worldwide. Whether you’re interested in meeting new friends, participating in a cultural or vocational exchange, or finding a partner for a service project, Rotary International has resources that can help, visit .....

Thanks for your enthusiasm - Bob Mowle and all the members of the District International Service Committee

The Zuri project Uganda

Keith McDavid – Rotary Club of Knowle and Dorridge

You may recall we arranged to get some pencils for the above charity from Workington Rotary Club which relations of Tom collected from Whitehaven and Tom collected from them and brought the pencils to Knowle. Well the pencils have now arrived in Uganda free of any transport costs, as they were included in a container that included a generator that was being donated by a local company that supports the Zuri Project. So all in all this was a win, win situation for everybody.

Nepal Press Release

Villagers celebrating the inauguration of their new Community Centre.jpg

In April 2015, an earthquake of 7.6 on the Richter scale struck the historic district of Gorkha in Nepal, northwest of Kathmandu. Over 9,000 lives were lost and estimated 8 million people, almost one-third of the population, have been impacted by the earthquake.

Members of the Rotary Club of North Worcestershire, together with the  Rotary Club of Damauli in Nepal, decided the best way to provide support was to help fund the reconstruction of the devastated Community Centre in the rural area of Dharmpani, Tanahun West Nepal; the epicentre of the earthquake.

Opportunities to Serve

World Child Cancer.jpg

World Child Cancer urgently needs to raise 5,500 to the fund the treatment costs for children with cancer in Cameroon.

Every year, around 120 children are diagnosed with cancer at our partner hospitals in Cameroon.

While many of the cancers diagnosed are treatable, survival rates remain horrendously low, as parents are struggling to meet the cost of drugs and therefore are being forced to make the heart-breaking decision to abandon their child’s treatment.
