The weather was kind for the 2012 10k Road Race in aid of Action Heart. Although it was cloudy as local M.P. Gavin Williamson started the race, the two hundred and seventy runners completed the course before the rain arrived later in the day. The runners wound their way around the Kinver countryside, dotted with Kinver Rotarians, family and friends who acted as marshals to ensure the safety of all. Many of the 10K competitors were from running clubs, whilst some were fun runners. While the main event was running a further twenty-five people entered a 2K fun run. This tear's winner of the 10K was Paul Hammond of Wolverhampton and Bilston Running Club in just under 36 minutes, who was followed home in second place by Lee Slater of Dudley and Stourbridge Harriers. Kathryn Morgan, also of Wolverhampton and Bilston Running Club, was the first lady home. Gavin Williamson M.P. and Mike Pugh of race sponsors BodyKraft presented the prizes. Mike announced that BodyKraft - who have been the main sponsors for several years - will also sponsor next year's race. Whist we do not yet have an accurate final figure it appears that the event has raised around £4000 for Action Heart. Kinver Rotary Club would like to thank Action Heart, Dudley, the police and ambulance service and all those who helped to ensure a successful event. We look forward to next year's race!
