KINVER ROTARY CLUB SLEIGH RAISES OVER £5000 FOR CHARITIES

By Ian Maddock - Posted on 27 December 2012

The Christmas sleigh collection by the Rotary Club of Kinver raised a total of £5,050 for local charities – only the second time the collection has passed the £5,000 mark.

President John Brown congratulated the people of Kinver, Wollaston and Enville for their generosity at these times of economic difficulty and also thanked the management at Aldi store in Wollaston for allowing the club to site the sleigh on their car park.

He said “ It provided a fitting curtain-raiser for a most successful sleigh tour,”  which also included appearances at  the Big Switch on of the lights in Kinver village, the traders’ open night, visits to senior citizens’ homes at Prestwood and The Homestead, Stourbridge Rugby Club, the Mary Stevens Hospice Santa Jog and schools at Swindon and Wolverhampton.

The club, as usual, invites any voluntary organisation or charity in the areas covered by the collection to apply for inclusion in the distribution of the proceeds.
