KINVER ROTARY CLUB SUPPORTS MABLETHORPE CHILDREN'S HOLIDAYS

In February this year, as every year we were circulated with the details of the Mablethorpe Holidays to take place in August.  As in previous years we again donated the amount to cover one youngster for another club to send, however on receipt of the money District offered us the option of sending two children for the price of one if we were able to find them.As we were now in contact with Brierley Hill Primary School we wondered if they would be able to suggest two children who would benefit from the holiday and eventually a girl and boy were recommended. We met with the children and their mothers and were happy to put forward their names to the Holiday Co-ordinator. So on the 11th August we picked up Elle Hanks and Ryan Bagley with their suitcases and travelled to West Bromwich to the coach that would take them to Mablethorpe for their first holiday away from ‘Mom’.During the week their mothers, Beccy and Lynette spoke to them and were relieved to hear that both were enjoying the varied activities organised and whilst missing their family were not homesick.According to the co-ordinator ‘27 girls and 27 boys had good weather to enjoy the many activities, and a good time was had by all’.

The week seemed to fly by and on 18th August we were there to meet the coach and reunite children with parents. As you can imagine there were lots to talk about and they were so excited, I’m sure they talked for days.

A very worthwhile project and one that I hope we will be able to repeat.
