A group of 27 Kinver Rotarians, family and friends flew to Nice on Thursday 21st February, for a weekend of fun and fellowship on the French Riviera. The weather wasn't too kind on arrival as the rain was teeming down. However, some of the local 'medication' soon revived our spirits.

Friday was a pleasant, sunny day. Some explored the old town, others ventured a little further afield, using the excellent local transport system. A number went along the coast to Menton to see the superb citrus festival - the theme was 'Around The World In 80 Days' before returning via a visit to Monte Carlo and its casino. One Rotarian, who shall remain nameless, was lucky to avoid arrest when he managed to walk on the grass surrounding the palace. It became clear why he was not a welcome guest when Prince Albert appeared shortly afterwards. On Friday evening the whole party gathered in the hotel bar before a fellowship dinner.

Saturday's weather  was less kind, with steady rain in the morning. It did stop in time for the spectacular 'Battle of The Flowers' in the afternoon - it was lucky that we were well wrapped up and had plastic bags to sit on! The carnival parade in the evening was equally spectacular, though it was very cold.

A leisurely Sunday morning saw various activities undertaken, with quite a few taking the 'petit train' tour of the old town. The train also climbed up to the site of the old castle, which has some fine views of the town and the coast. As we took off from the airport the rain returned to see us off.

Our thanks to Past President Neil Brazier and Kate for organising an enjoyable weekend - a pity about the weather!
