Six musical acts based in the Midlands and an acclaimed accordion duo from the Ukraine will make up the Saturday Spectacular element of the three-day Kinver Music Festival to be staged from Friday July 10 to Sunday July 12 in aid of the Mary Stevens Hospice and Acorn Children’s Hospice, except Saturday afternoon’s performance with proceeds to Kinver Chernobyl Children’s Charity.

Following the theme of last year’ successful event, free live music will be playing at venues throughout the village on Friday July 10 and Sunday July 12, with the Saturday Spectacular to be presented by the village’s Rotary Club.

Emulating Rotary’s memorable Musical Extravaganza of a few years ago, the Saturday Spectacular will feature performances by the West Midlands Fire Service Band, the Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir, the Midland Fretted Orchestra, Stourport Choral Society, the Wild Irish Folk trio and Chapter8, a vocal harmony group.

Each will perform between 7.p.m. and 10.00 p.m., with two half-hour breaks, at six venues within walking distance if each other. (Chapter8 performances finish at 9.00 p.m.)

An added attraction will be a performance by the Kyiv Classic Duo, acclaimed accordion artists from the Ukraine, who will be using the Spectacular as the curtain-raiser for an 18-date British tour.

At their performance in St Peter’s Church Hall they will demonstrate how their two contemporary button accordions produce sounds ranging from a small squeezebox to a string quartet, a massive church organ or even an orchestra.

The performance, which has been sponsored by CHL Holdings of Brierley Hill, will take place at 2.30 p.m. with tickets costing £7 for adults and £5 for children.  Tickets for this performance and the evening spectacular, which cost £12 (concessions £10) for entry into all six venues, are  available from the Post Office in Kinver High Street and Stourbridge Travel in Wollaston.
