SHELTERBOX PROJECT AT GOLDTHORN PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Head Teacher of Goldthorn Park Primary School, Wolverhampton, Mrs Julia Roseblade, led her school in various fund raising events over a two year period so that they could purchase a ShelterBox. Julia's husband Clive is a Past President of Kinver Rotary Club - and, according to Clive, the best President we've ever had!

Having raised the money Julia thought it would be a good idea if Rotary brought a ShelterBox to school so every one could see the contents and learn about their use . So far so good. Julia failed to find a local club that could do this, but we couldn’t see the best wife of the best President ever let down like this so to the rescue rode Kinver Rotary Club Youth Services Committee .

If there is a ShelterBox in District 1060 then it is one of the best kept secrets in Rotary. However, Julia had already had contact from the shelterbox co-ordinator in District 1210 . You would think this was the problem solved – not quite . One year later we got the tent up and the box on site .

Thankfully we don’t have to respond to natural disasters or war torn areas of the world but I am sure that if we are called to a similar situation again our reaction time will be slightly better .
