We were honoured and delighted to receive a visit from our newly elected MP, Rachel Maclean, at our meeting on Monday 31st July. Rachel gave her initial impressions of what it is like to be a Member of Parliament and to find herself in the Commons Chamber with its overwhelming historical connections. She recounted that her daughter had asked why there were not more women MPs? This prompted her to try and get elected! Having overcome the nervousness with her maiden speech she was pleased to become involved in a subsequent debate and had the good fortune to be called to ask questions of ministers.

Rachel was pleased to answer questions, some were more lighthearted than others. A most enjoyable lunch-time!
