TREE OF LIGHT 2016 RAISES £2,200

The Mayor switches on the Tree of Light

The Rotary Club of Southam Tree of Light was switched on by the Mayor of Southam, Cllr Mike Brooks, as part of Southam Christmas Lights Victorian Fair on Sunday 4th December. As in previous years we invited members of the public to remember loved ones by making donations to Acorns Children’s Hospice. This year a total of £2,200 was raised and, thanks to the generous support of Dywidag-Systems International and Southam Carpets in covering our costs, the total amount has gone to the charity.  The Tree of Light is situated alongside Southam Carpets and was alight for the whole of the Christmas season. A Book of Remembrance, listing all those in whose memory donations have been made, was in Southam Library during this time. The Tree of Light was instigated at Christmas 2005 and, in the first year, £910 was raised. Since then, thanks to the generosity of the people of Southam and the surrounding villages, a total of £22,032 has been donated to Acorns Children’s Hospice as a result of the Rotary Club of Southam Tree of Light.
