Wylde Green

Founded in 1991, we are an active group of men and women who have a varied programme of events, including visiting speakers and fund raising, together with social activities.

Our local, national and international links are strong, as evidenced by our extensive programme.

Come and see us at one of our weekly meetings, where a warm welcome awaits.

Pupils from Highclare School have won the local round of the Youth Speaks schools’ public speaking competition that has again been run by the Rotary Club of Wylde Green.

Youth Speaks is a competition for young people between the ages of 11 and 18 organised by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland. It is designed to help young people develop confidence in their own ability to stand up and speak in front of an audience.

Participants took part in the Senior Competition from Highclare School and Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls.

Activities have included: President's river cruise for Rotarians and their partners;  French themed evening;  'The Alternative Conference';  Barn dance;  Theatre outings; Irish Night; 'Tribute' nights (eg Rod Stewart); Club Quiz Night

Community, Vocational and Youth activities

Community and Vocational Service have been described as the 'shop window' of Rotary, concerned with the work done by Rotarians in the local area.  It presents an opportunity for the Club to examine and respond to the needs of the less fortunate or to a worthy project in the area.

Fund raising activities include: - Easter and Christmas collections - Golf Day

Rotary Foundation

Rotary Foundation supports the efforts of

International Service

The Club carries out a variety of international service projects that address critical issues including poverty, hunger, illiteracy, diseases, pollution and underdevelopment. Because in many countries people die of starvation or disease that could be prevented by drugs or education, wherever possible, help is directed through a local Rotary Club to ensure that the aid goes exactly where it is intended and with minimal overheads. Activities include: - Emergency aid overseas, by way of Aquaboxes and Shelter Boxes.
