International Service

By Carolyn McLaughlin - Posted on 03 February 2011

The Club carries out a variety of international service projects that address critical issues including poverty, hunger, illiteracy, diseases, pollution and underdevelopment. Because in many countries people die of starvation or disease that could be prevented by drugs or education, wherever possible, help is directed through a local Rotary Club to ensure that the aid goes exactly where it is intended and with minimal overheads. Activities include: - Emergency aid overseas, by way of Aquaboxes and Shelter Boxes. Most recently the Club's Shelter Boxes have been sent to Haiti. - Support for school children in India - Action Kenya, a school for disabled children - Leonard Cheshire Disability, Uganda
